London – The British Metropolis

“It is difficult to speak adequately or justly of London. It is not a pleasant place; it is not agreeable, or cheerful, or easy, or exempt from reproach. It is only magnificent.”

Henry James

LONDON

The British Metropolis.

The UK’s capital city is one of the most iconic cities in the world. With almost 300 different ethnic groups and nationalities the city is one of the most populous in Europe with over 8 million residents.

As a melting pot of cultures, it is also known for its rich history, diverse culture, and iconic landmarks. Those include the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben (now known as the Elizabeth Tower), the Houses of Parliament, and the London Eye.

London’s Cuisine

1. GAIL’s

Multiple locations all over the city. Fresh bread & pastries (their cheddar + chives scones are to die for), seasonal changing menu. Ideal place for breakfast, lunch or a coffee, whether you’re treating yourself, a date or friends & family.

2. NOPI

NOPI = North of Piccadilly; is an OTTOLENGHI restaurant in SOHO. Its seasonal menu has some of the Ottolenghi trademarks by celebrating bold flavors but it has a different feel to the Ottolenghi delis. Seating choice between main dining room or large sharing tables overlooking the open plan kitchen. Perfect for lunch, pre-theatre or dinner.

3. Granger & Co

Multiple locations all over the city. Australian all-day dining restaurants by Bill Granger. Fresh ingredients and good vibes. Perfect for brunching.

4. The Zetter Townhouse – Marylebone: Afternoon Tea

Housed within a beautiful Georgian townhouse in Marylebone, Afternoon Tea at the Zetter Townhouse is served in the quirky Seymour’s Parlour. Red toned walls, mismatched antique furniture, and walls adorned with frames and ornaments make this a super cozy location to enjoy a delicious selection of sandwiches, an assortment of cakes and pastries, and of course, freshly baked scones. On top of offering two menus to choose from, a savory and a sandwich one, they also offer a vegetarian option.

5. PLANTS by Deliciously Ella

Vegan restaurant by famous food blogger “Deliciously Ella” with a seasonal changing menu. The perfect dining experience to sample the very best of plant-based eating. Lovely location for a cozy evening. Very delicious indeed.

Obviously, the culinary options in London are endless and this is but a rather limited selection of some of my favorites. If you are looking for more alternatives, comment below or subscribe to my blog in order to receive my Google Maps List of London.
